The First Live-Broadcast Festival… On YouTube, That Is
And the latest YouTube sensation? It could be less grainy and far lengthier than the typical cam-clip. YouTube is now planning live coverage of the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco, starting this Friday and continuing into the weekend. That means broadcast performances from Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz, Thievery Corporation, the Dead Weather, Silversun Pickups, Raphael Saadiq, Cage the Elephant, and Atmosphere, part of a new original programming push.
YouTube tapped a large number of partners on the initiative. That includes Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Productions, Starr Hill Presents, and the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department. The broadcast means access anywhere – and anytime through a post-event archived channel, though the biggest rush will be enjoyed by actual attendees. T-Mobile is also partnering on the effort, specifically to showcase its 3G capabilities.
