BusinessWeek just reported that Spotify is expecting a US-based launch during the third quarter. But that is not quite accurate, according to the company, which is now more loosely pointing to a ‘later this year’ arrival. Tough to say why Spotify gets so much hype.  Sure, the application is amazingly elegant, and addictive for music fans.  It also offers a very convincing case for cloud superiority (itself a worthwhile debate).  But how is Spotify different than any number of freemium music prayers before it?  And why are American executives being asked to play along?
