What a wretched week for EMI. The latest bad news comes from London, where Pink Floyd has now won its court case against the label. A High Court judge ruled that EMI indeed violated its artist contract by offering unbundled, a-la-carte songs from the band. (more…)

Fanning the flames of innovation: New Fan Management Tools & Companies

This is the first interview in a series focussed on fan management. On one end of the spectrum there are companies offering basic CRM services and at the other end there are increasing numbers of companies claiming to be a full-service digital label. OurStage Starts Searching for Female Artists…

OurStage will soon use its fan-focused platform to seek out some promising female musicians, according to details shared with Digital Music News over the weekend. OurStage is partnering with the resurrected Lilith Fair, a brand indelibly tied to women artists.  Accordingly, the duo is now opening a ‘Lilith Local Talent Search,’ essentially an online contest to find the most promising female artists across North America.
