Not As Big In Japan: RIAJ Stats Show Slumping Sales…
Recorded music sales continued to fall in Japan, part of a broader global trend. According to the latest from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), unit sales dropped 10 percent during the first quarter (year-over-year), and 16 percent by trade value.
More specifically, sales dropped to 49.1 million units, and related values slipped to 54.3 billion yen ($584.8 million). That follows a 13 percent unit decline in 2009, and a milder, single-digital drop in 2008.
