Love Remixing? Indaba Has Another Contest Worth Looking At…
Diddy invented the remix, just like Al Gore invented the internet. Twisted histories aside, the remix and the internet have been dancing together in some funny ways over the past decade or so. Now, music collaboration platform Indaba is asking fans to remix a remixer, and score some great distribution and cash prizes in the process.
The focus track is “Turn It Up” by Amp Live, whose Murder at the Discotech is now getting released. The Bay Area-based Amp Live is best known for producing Zion-I, though his remix credits span Linkin Park, Radiohead, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Jamie Lidell, MGMT, Jealous Girls, and Tokyo Police Club. Now, Indaba is offering the stems from the album version of “Turn It Up,” and asking producers to create their own versions.
And the winner is? Submissions are due July 8th at 5pm EST, after which voting begins immediately. The grand prize winner gets $500, a commercial release of the remix under Om Records, and a year-long Pro Membership to Indaba Music. Amp, Om, and Indaba’s Mantis Ever will be voting. The action starts at indabamusic.com.
