MS-Pro Artist's Spotlight
Buckeleven

Originally from Austin, Buckeleven founder Greg Upton moved to Denver with his wife, a year ago after laboring for 16 years in L.A. playing in bands and doing session work. Then, thanks to MS-Pro, Buckeleven's song "Easystreet" was chosen to be in the critically acclaimed new comedy feature, Lars and the Real Girl. Greg currently works for the Denver Center of Performing Arts and plans on building a new recording studio in his house.
What inspired you to write song "Easystreet?"
This song was collaboration with my songwriting partner, Randall Andrews. The meat of the song comes from him, but I could relate to it. The inspiration came from trying to make it out in L.A., and from an in-law who was wondering: "When are you going to pony-up a lifestyle for my daughter?" It's a tongue-in-cheek tune that says, "Hey when I make it, I'm going to slap your pappy!"
How did you start the band?
Buckeleven is my brainchild; it means "1:11" on the clock. There have been times when semi-powerful things have happened to me exactly at that time -- usually at 1:11am. It's a solo band, and I sing and play most of the instruments. It's been going on for eight years, and I have a couple of records out. We've been in a few indie films, but this is by far the best one yet.
