Artistic Arrival: JetBlue Staging Concerts… at the Airport

JFK International Airport is normally associated with huge crowds, traffic jams, flight delays, and more flight delays.  But JetBlue Airways is dancing up something entirely different.  According to details shared Thursday morning, the low-cost airline is staging a number of concerts at Terminal 5 at JFK. The series, a collaborative effort with appropriately-named Superfly Marketing, is called ‘Live from T5′ and already includes a 12-date schedule.

JetBlue has already staged one event under-the-radar, though the real action begins today with Nicole Atkins, followed by American Princes on July 3rd.  The August dates will be filled by winners of a contest hosted by OurStage.com, a site dedicated to fan-driven artist selection.  Other bands will be picked independently by the coordinators.

Actually, Manhattan is also home to the venue Terminal 5 (formerly Club Exit), in Hell’s Kitchen.  The ‘connection’ is made, and JetBlue and partners will feature an act as an opener at the Bowery Presents location.  “JetBlue not only provides the most free live entertainment in the skies – we also seek to provide unique entertainment experiences for our customers on the ground in our brand new, state-of-the-art terminal,” said Kim Ruvolo, brand manager for JetBlue Airways.
