And Another Round: Ecast Scores $17 Million…
San Francisco-based digital jukebox company Ecast recently rallied $17 million, according to SEC documents unearthed by paidContent. The round included LG Electronics USA, as well as previous backers Foundry Group, Escalate Capital Partners, DCM and Crosslink Capital.
Ecast oversees a network of roughly 10,000 jukeboxes throughout the United States, planted mostly within bars and clubs. Those jukeboxes offer musical content from major labels as well as various independents, though targeted advertising is also a core component of the model. The ‘place-based interactive media’ approach is designed to help advertisers reach the male, 21-34 demographic in ‘out-of-home markets’.
