Apple rumors come in all shapes and sizes, and it makes sense to treat each one with caution.  But the mill is also fun to watch, especially when things come true.

And the latest?  According to tips from a number of sources – including TechCrunch, Macrumors, and others – the iPod lineup could soon welcome a camera.  That could mean camcorder capabilities for the next iPod touch – just like the iPhone 3GS – as well as still and even moving camera capabilities for lower-end iPods like the nano. 

The speculation is based on reports of heavy lens orders by Apple, and some pictures of altered iPod cases.  But outside of those bits of evidence, the move makes a great deal of sense.  Already, the 3GS is generating a new content surge on YouTube, and the iPod already storehouses photos.
