The iTunes Store is now approaching 10 billion song downloads, and the fanfare starts immediately.  The streamers are already adorning the ‘Countdown to 10 Billion Songs’ celebration, and Apple is awarding a $10,000 iTunes gift certificate to the fan who hits the magic number.  That is certainly a monster gift certificate, appropriate for the threshold on hand.

Yes. Lil’ Wayne Shot Nine Videos Last Weekend…

How many videos did you shoot last weekend?  Or, last decade?  Ahead of a jail stint, Lil’ Wayne recently shot a string of nine videos over a 48 hour period, according to details shared by MTV.  The vids were directed by David Rousseau, and Wayne and the Cash Money team could qualify for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Vevo Still a No-Go? Warner Music Remains Cool On the Idea…

Bronfman sent a serious jab towards Spotify on Tuesday, part of a larger discussion with analysts.  But the Warner Music Group chairman also splashed cold water on Vevo, and offered more explanation for the label’s licensing holdout.  Warner is currently the only major label withholding its content on Vevo.

Owen Van Natta Exiting MySpace; Hirschhorn Steps Up…

MySpace CEO Owen Van Natta is now exiting, according to information confirmed Wednesday evening by News Corp.  In his place, Mike Jones (formerly Chief Operating Officer) and Jason Hirschhorn (formerly Chief Product Officer) are elevating to Co-President positions.  Both will report to Jon Miller, Chairman and CEO of Digital Media for News Corp.
